Kate Hudson and The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson were married from 2000 to 2007 and share a son together, 21-year-old Ryder. In a new interview, Hudson talks about what prompted her to jump into marriage with the rocker. 

During an appearance on the You’re Doing Fine…Just Keep Going podcast, Kate says she met Robinson in New York when she was 20 and instantly knew she wanted to be with him, quickly telling people, “I’m marrying this guy.”

“I just, like, jump in the deep end of everything I do,” she shared. “People thought it was impulsive, but it was more like I was just, like, ‘You know what? I’m just going to dive right into this. I’m not gonna second guess it. I’m in love with him. I’m not gonna pretend, like, “Oh, we should wait.” I’m madly in love and I want to marry him.’ And so I just didn’t think twice.”

She notes, “I’m kind of still like that except with a little more wisdom under my belt.”

Although Kate says the marriage got complicated and didn’t last, Robinson showed her “what it felt like to be unconditionally loved,” noting they “worshipped each other” and “were so in love.”

Blackmore’s Night, the group featuring ex-Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his wife, Candice Night, are about to release the 25th anniversary celebration of their debut album, Shadow of the Moon. Now they are sharing another song from the set.

The latest is a new mix of “Play Minstrel Play,” which features a special guest appearance by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson.

The remixed 25th anniversary edition of Shadow of the Moon is due out March 10, with the album’s iconic artwork refreshed for the new release. It includes two previously unreleased acoustic versions of “Spirit of the Sea” and “Shadow of the Moon,” recorded by Blackmore and Night in 2022. The album is available for preorder now.

Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal has shared more of its upcoming Super Bowl commercial starring Dave Grohl.

In a new clip posted to YouTube, the Foo Fighters frontman produces a shred-heavy rendition of Canada’s national anthem, “O Canada,” performed by Canadian guitarist and Prince collaborator Donna Grantis. Following her rocking performance, Grohl asks Grantis if she wants to start a band, to which she exclaims, “I’m in!”

Meanwhile, another clip is a follow-up to a previously released teaser for the ad, in which Grohl rattled off a list of seemingly unrelated and random items, including “peanut butter” and “Hawaiian pizza.” As it turns out, what those things have in common is that they were invented in or are produced in Canada.

“Today, let’s thank Canada,” Grohl declares.

Elvis Costello and Crowded House are among the artists featured in AXS TV’s new Live From the Artists Den series, kicking off February 15 at 9 p.m. ET.

The concert series launches with a special concert by John Legend at New York City’s Riverside Church, with Costello’s episode set for April 12 and Crowded House headlining the April 19 episode.

Legendary Canadian band The Guess Who is ready to drop some new music. The band just announced their  brand new album, Plein D’Amour, which translates to full of love.

“We couldn’t think of a better time to introduce the world to an exceptional collection of songs that exude positivity and cohesive energy, a much needed cultural antidote. Now we ARE love — Plein D’Amour!” Michael Staertow shares. Founding member Garry Peterson adds, “After recording this album, and living with it for a while, I believe this is the best album that I have played on.” 

And the band is giving fans a taste of what to expect with the just-released first single from the record, “The King.”

According to lead vocalist Derek Sharp, who wrote the song, “The King” was inspired by “‘all the king’s horses and all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humpty together again.” 

He added, “However, loving kindness is a universal balm, which can not only put Humpty together again, but turn him into a Prince!”

The album is a follow-up to 2018’s The Future IS What it Used To Be. So far a release date for Plein D’Amour hasn’t been announced.

English radio host Chris Moyles has apologized after he claimed that Foo Fighters were releasing a new album next month.

During a broadcast earlier this week, Moyles said, “They’ve got a new album coming out in March, Foo Fighters, which I’m very much looking forward to.” Of course, news of a new Foo Fighters album is always big, but would be especially so in this case, given the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.

Naturally, Moyles’ comments started to spread online, so much so that he spoke during his Radio X show Friday about the “kerfuffle” he’s caused.

“I’ve got myself into a cul-de-sac, and I genuinely do not know what to say,” Moyles said. “I don’t know what to say without getting in trouble, I don’t know what to say without people going, ‘What?’ I don’t know what to say without looking stupid, I don’t know what to say to betray … stuff.”

Moyles concluded by offering an apology to Foo frontman Dave Grohl.

“Sorry, Dave,” Moyles said. “I’m really sorry, Dave.”

Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Sting and Blondie are among the artists confirmed for England’s Lytham Festival, taking place June 28 to July 2 in Lancashire, England.

The co-headlining tour of Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard is set to close the festival on July 2, with Sting headlining June 30 and Blondie also playing that night. 

The festival’s other headliners include Jamiroquai on June 29, George Ezra on June 30 and Lionel Richie on July 1. The rest of the lineup includes Kaiser Chiefs, Kim Wylde, Jake Shears and Fun Lovin’ Criminals.

Elvis Costello paid tribute to his friend and collaborator Burt Bacharach at the kickoff for his 10-night residency at New York’s Gramercy Theatre Thursday. Bacharach died Wednesday at the age of 94.

“It’s been a tough day,” Costello told the audience, as reported by Variety. “You know, a really great man left us yesterday. And people say, when somebody leaves you who’s a great age, they say, well, it was a good ending. Yeah, but it’s never time to say goodbye to somebody if you love ‘em. And I’m not ashamed to say I did love this man.” 

Costello went on to play three Bacharach-penned tunes: “Baby It’s You,” recorded by The Shirelles and The Beatles; “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” made famous by Dionne Warwick; and “Please Stay,” recorded by The Drifters. Costello had previously recorded two of those songs, “Baby It’s You” with Nick Lowe and “Please Stay,” for his all-covers album Kojak Variety. Costello also said he was planning to perform some of the songs he wrote with Bacharach later in the residency when his pianist, Steve Nieve, joins him.

In 1998 Bacharach and Costello teamed up for the album Painted From Memory, which went on to earn the pair a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for the song “I Still Have That Other Girl.” A box set of their work, The Songs Of Bacharach & Costello, including the new collection Taken From Life, featuring unreleased songs from a proposed Painted From Memory musical score, is due out March 3. Alice in Chains vocalist William DuVall guests on a new version of Mongolian rock outfit The Hu‘s song “This Is Mongol.”

The updated recording, dubbed “This is Mongol (Warrior Souls),” features DuVall on guitar and English vocals alongside the original’s Mongolian lyrics.

“We are so excited to be performing our single, ‘This is Mongol (Warrior Souls),’ with William DuVall,” says The Hu member Temka. “He’s not only an amazing vocalist but also has unique rhythm and technique to his performance, and his style matches our energy and our throat singing. The song is about the warrior souls that are within us, and its purpose is to inspire you and awaken your soul. We hope everyone enjoys this piece of art.

“It was such an exciting and fulfilling challenge to write and produce something that remained true to The Hu’s sensibilities while also resonating with my own,” DuVall adds. “‘Warrior Souls’ is a testament to the fact that, no matter where we come from, in the end, we all want the same things-to prosper in our own time despite the odds arrayed against us, making previous generations proud and leaving a worthy legacy for the future. The Who’s Roger Daltrey is still working hard on his planned biopic about the band’s late drummer, Keith Moon, and in a new interview with Vulture he gives fans an update on the progress being made.

“I just finished a script, and I’m hoping to do my biopic of Keith within the next couple of years,” he says. “I’m very pleased with the script. I want people to get an understanding of him and his life, and the complete genius he was.”

Daltrey says he already has an idea of an actor “who’s a role model” to play Moon, although he worries the unidentified actor, who he says is around 40, may be “too old.” However, Daltrey thinks it still could work, because “Keith looked 50 when he died. He was 32, but he looked 54.”

“But there’s an actor who I’ve seen and when I look at him I go, ‘God, it’s Moon,’” Roger says. “It’s all to do with the eyes. The eyes are all important. You virtually wouldn’t need to say any dialogue because you could read it in his eyes.” 

And it sounds like Roger won’t stop until the movie is made, noting, “I’m driven by this project. It came to me in a dream 30 years ago.”

Daltrey also gave a little insight into what he hopes is in the future for The Who, including an orchestrated Quadrophenia.

“That’s my ambition. But I can’t tell you I could physically handle it,” the almost-79-year-old says. “It’s a challenging piece of work and it deserves respect. But who knows. We’ve gone on far longer than I ever thought we would. I didn’t think it would last until the end of the week.”
