Now that Foo Fighters are officially back to playing shows, the band has released a new video celebrating their return. Or, make that an uncanny valley version of the band.

The clip, titled “A Message from Foo Fighters,” begins with what appears to be an AI-generated Dave Grohl declaring, “Hey everyone, it’s been awhile, but I’m happy to announce that Foo Fighters are coming back to bring you that 100% real, raw, human element of rock n’ roll.”

It then cuts to similarly AI-looking recreations of the other band members, often sporting an extra finger or leg, while maintaining to be “living, breathing human beings on stage.”

New drummer Ilan Rubin is also seen growing multiple extra arms.

The video’s YouTube page notes that it contains “altered or synthetic content,” and that “sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.” Clearly, the whole thing is a giant wink at the use of AI in art.

Foo Fighters played their first show in over a year on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, California, which also marked their first live performance with Rubin. They’ll launch a tour of Asia in October.

Former Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman has announced a new set of U.S. tour dates, which will have him touring with his son Oliver Wakeman for the very first time.

Some of the dates on this tour are actually rescheduled shows from the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s July 2025 Strictly Wakeman tour, which was postponed so Rick could undergo surgery. That tour was supposed to feature singer Hayley Sanderson, but she is no longer on the bill.

“It’s always an honor for me to share the stage with one of my wonderful children,” says Rick, “and for the first time, it’s a thrill to be actually doing a tour with my eldest son Oliver. I know it will be very special – especially if, on the odd occasion, he buys me dinner!!”

While this is the first time Wakeman and his son have toured together, it isn’t their first time performing together. They previously shared the stage at London’s O2 Arena during Rick’s performance of The Myths And Legends of King Arthur.

The Wakeman & Son tour will kick off March 11 in Ridgefield, Connecticut, with dates confirmed through March 29 in Red Bank, New Jersey. Tickets for any of the postponed dates will be valid for corresponding new shows.

Drummer Matt Cameron has opened up regarding his departure from Pearl Jam in an interview with Billboard.

Cameron, who played in Soundgarden before joining up with Eddie Vedder and company, announced in July he was leaving the grunge rockers after 27 years in the group.

“I definitely gave them a lot of notice,” Cameron says. “I’ve spoken with [bassist] Jeff [Ament] and [guitarist] Stone [Gossard] a little bit[.] … It’s been fine. Hopefully we’ll get back together at some point and have a beer or something.”

After announcing his Pearl Jam exit, Cameron clarified that he’s “still an active musician” and tells Billboard that he’s been working on new original material.

“I’m at a point in my life where I want to redirect my time and energy in a way that is a little bit based on what I want to pursue as an artist at this point,” Cameron says.

Cameron also plans to return to the road, though he’s not looking to recreate Pearl Jam’s marathon performances.

“I was having some issues with [Pearl Jam’s] three-hour shows and constant touring and stuff,” Cameron adds. “That’s definitely an art form unto itself, to be able to do those types of shows … I’m at a point now where I want to do a face-melting 70-minute set, and that’s kind of what I’m focusing on right now.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cameron speaks on the progress of the new Soundgarden album, which they’d been working on prior to frontman Chris Cornell‘s death in 2017.

“We’re definitely over halfway done with it,” Cameron says. “[Guitarist] Kim [Thayil] is in the process of finishing his guitar parts; he wants to make sure they get exactly the way he wants them.”
