Eddie Vedder took a moment during Pearl Jam‘s show in Dublin on Saturday to honor two of Ireland’s late music legends, Shane MacGowan and Sinéad O’Connor.

In introducing a cover of the Warren Zevon song “Keep Me in Your Heart,” Vedder told the crowd, “I was thinking about Shane and I was thinking about Sinéad, and I just wanted to play this one.” Fan-shot footage of the performance is streaming now on YouTube.

O’Connor died in July 2023; MacGown passed away a few months later in November.

The Dublin show marked the first date on Pearl Jam’s European tour in support of their new album, Dark Matter. They launched a U.S. tour in May; a second stateside leg will kick off in August.

Did Taylor Swift just react to Dave Grohl’s “We play live” comment?

Many Swifties were convinced that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl threw shade at Taylor Swift during the band’s London show on June 22.  Well, shade or no, Taylor has seemingly responded to Grohl’s comment at her June 23 show in London.

As previously reported, during the Foo Fighters concert, Grohl joked they were calling their tour the Errors Tour, “because we play live.” He then reacted to his own comment by saying, “What? Just saying. We’re a live band! You guys like live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f****** place.”

Following a standing ovation at Taylor’s show at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night, fan-recorded video shows her telling the crowd, “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for three-and-a-half hours tonight, they deserve this so much.”

“And so does every one of my fellow performers,” she added. “And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”

It’s not clear whether or not Grohl was joking. In the past, he’s declared himself to be a Taylor fan.

As previously reported, at that same London show, Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce made a guest appearance, carrying her onstage during her “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” segment. Plus, Taylor’s opening act, Gracie Abrams, came out to join her for a performance of their duet “us,” from Gracie’s new album.

And finally, Taylor’s The Tortured Poets Department is #1 for a ninth week on the Billboard Top 200.

Mike Campbell believes Tom Petty would be “proud” of ‘Petty Country’ tribute album

Mike Campbell believes Tom Petty would be “proud” of ‘Petty Country’ tribute album
Big Machine Records

The new tribute album to the late Tom PettyPetty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty, is out now, and Petty’s Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell is 100 percent behind it.

“I’m so proud of all those artists, and I know that Tom would really be proud and happy that all these artists honored his songs,” Campbell tells ABC Audio. “I just want his memory and the legacy that we built together, I’m very proud of it, and anything that illuminates it is good for me.”

Campbell even appears on the album, joining Margo Price for her cover of “Ways to Be Wicked.” Campbell says it was written for Petty and the Heartbreakers’ second album, 1978’s You’re Gonna Get It!, but “has been collecting dust all these decades.”

“It’s, like, perfect for her, you know, a woman’s point of view and the way she belts it,” Campbell says, “and then she cut it and asked me to join in, and I put some guitar, little harmony on there. I call it a Lazarus song. It came back from the dead.”

Campbell says some of his favorite covers on the album include Dolly Parton’s take on “Southern Accents” and Chris Stapleton’s cover of “I Should Have Known It,” but he notes, “I like them all.”

“I think Tom would have liked it,” he says. “It’s nice to get the songs out there and keep them alive, keep people aware that, you know, Tom was real and he’s still with us with the music.”

Campbell, who recently released Vagabonds, Virgins & Misfits, a new album with his band The Dirty Knobs, is currently on tour. He and the band play Kansas City, Missouri, on June 24. A complete list of dates can be found at thedirtyknobs.com.

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl takes swipe at Taylor Swift in concert

Dave Grohl may have found himself on the wrong side of Swifties.

Foo Fighters were playing London Stadium Saturday night, the same night Taylor Swift was headlining her second of three Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium, and it seems Grohl took a moment out of the Foo concert to take a swipe at the pop superstar.

Fan shot footage posted to social media shows Grohl telling his audience, “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” before adding, “So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f***** errors as well. Just a couple.”

Then he seemed to go after Taylor’s performance noting, “That’s because we actually play live,” adding an exaggerated, “What?”

“Just saying,” Grohl added. “You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f****** place.”

The Foos show also featured an appearance by Shane Hawkins, son of late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who took over at the drum kit for a performance of “My Hero.”

Foo Fighters bring their tour to Cardiff, Wales, on Tuesday, June 25. A complete list of dates can be found at foofighters.com.

Swift, meanwhile, welcomed Paramore‘s Hayley Williams onstage during her Saturday Wembley show to perform their collaboration, “Castles Crumbling.” Paramore has been opening the European leg of the Eras Tour.

Daryl Hall on his new solo album, and his split from John Oates

Daryl Hall’s latest solo album, D, is out now, and he tells Billboard it’s a “very personal” album.

“The album is a complete thought,” he says, “and we organized the songs to go through a journey with it.” He adds, “We didn’t write the songs with that in mind, but when we realized what we had we put it together into a story, in a progression.”

The new solo album comes as Hall and partner John Oates have pretty much put an end to their relationship, with Hall filing a lawsuit when Oates tried to sell his half of their publishing. Both sides have since said it’s doubtful we’ll ever seen Hall & Oates together again.

“John and I did not have a creative relationship for decades,” Hall shares. “We toured and we toured and we toured, and it was very restrictive to me, and to John.” He adds, “The real truth of it all is John just said one day he didn’t want to do it anymore. I said ‘OK,’ but the problem is (Oates) didn’t make the parting and breakup easy, and that’s where the difficulties lay and still lay, and that’s all it is.”

Now, Hall is welcoming the opportunity to truly be out on his own.

“I always say I’ve been a solo artist my whole life, I was just working with John, mostly,” he says. “I can’t speak for John ’cause I haven’t spoken to him in a long, long time, but I think that’s how he feels, too. And good on both of us.”

He adds, “I can still play all the songs that I wrote over the years, under my own name as well as under the Hall & Oates name. It frees me, really. It frees me up.”
