Just nine months after releasing his debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.,Bruce Springsteen released the follow-up, The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle.
Although the album received critical praise, it wasn’t a commercial success upon its initial release. After the release of Springsteen’s next album, the commercial hit Born to Run, songs on The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle began getting radio play, and the album has since gone on to be certified double platinum by the RIAA.
The album features the Springsteen classic “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” as well as fan favorites like “4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy),” “Kitty’s Back” and “Incident on 57 Street.”
Lynyrd Skynyrd has shared a new music video for their classic track “Gimme Three Steps.” It captures their live performance of the song at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during the band’s 50th anniversary concert, which took place in November 2022.
The Ryman concert was filmed before the 2023 death of guitarist Gary Rossington, the last founding member of Skynyrd, and he is seen front and center in the video.
The performance is part Celebrating 50 Years – Live at the Ryman, a special live album and DVD of the concert that was released in June. In addition to “Gimme Three Steps,” the album and DVD feature performances of Skynyrd classics like “Freebird,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “A Simple Man.”
The concert also features guest appearances by 38 Special’s Donnie Van Zant, Jelly Roll, Brent Smith of the rock band Shinedown, country star John Osborne of Brothers Osborne and Marcus King.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is currently on a Canadian tour; their next show is Thursday in Edmonton. Their next U.S. show is set for Oct. 2 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. A complete list of dates can be found at LynyrdSkynyrd.com.
Pearl Jam may have a song called “Rats,” but now some cats are being housed at the band’s headquarters.
The Seattle rockers revealed on Instagram that a tuxedo cat was found earlier this summer sunbathing in the parking lot of the band’s headquarters, and the group’s team helped get her and her kittens to safety.
The band shared video of the litter, writing, “Meet the Purrl Jam Family.” The mom has been named Mamasan, after the Mamasan trilogy, the first three songs (“Alive,” “Once” and “Footsteps”) that Eddie Vedder wrote lyrics to for the band. The kittens are named after three of the band’s songs: Dark Matter, the title track of their 2024 album; Gremmie, after the Lost Dogs B-side “Gremmie Out of Control”; and Bugs, after the track of the same name from 1994’s Vitalogy.
“With the help of @alleycatproject, a local non-profit organization dedicated to humanely reducing Seattle’s feral cat population, Mamasan and her 3-boy litter were safely captured and brought inside,” reads the post, noting that the cats were spayed and neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
While Mamasan, who they say is a “true feral,” was ear-tipped and returned to the outdoors, her “tuxedo trilogy” will remain at Pearl Jam headquarters until they are ready to be adopted.
The band notes that the kittens are staying at their headquarters because their aren’t enough foster homes to help all the animals in need, asking fans to donate to Alley Cat Project or purchase supplies on their wish list to help the organization.
Elton John wears a Watford FC scarf at team’s Vicarage Road stadium in 2014 (Stephen Pond – EMPICS / Contributor)
Some people say music is life. According to Ted Lasso, football is life. But if you’re an Elton John fan, you can now combine those things.
As Elton fans may know, the Rocket Man became the chairman of Watford Hornets, his favorite football club — what Americans would call a soccer team — in 1976. He served until 1990, then returned as chairman from 1997 to 2002. He’s still the club’s honorary life president.
To celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of Elton joining the club’s management, which literally turned their fortunes around, the players will be wearing Elton-inspired uniforms during their championship game on Saturday — and you can buy your own version.
According to the team, Elton was “heavily involved” in the design of the uniforms, which were inspired by the cover of his Diamonds greatest hits album. The uniform jerseys are blue with a star design and feature Elton’s “E” logo, the Watford crest and the hornet logo the club used in 1976. On the back of the shirts is a line from Elton’s hit “Your Song”: “How wonderful life is while you’re in the world.”
You can preorder the collection, which also includes shorts and socks, now. The uniforms will become available online on Friday.

The Doors’ Robby Krieger has revealed the special guests joining him for his upcoming show celebrating 60 years of the band’s legacy.
Artists confirmed for A 60th Anniversary Doors Celebration on Oct. 30 at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre include Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell, former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, Stone Temple Pilots’ Robert DeLeo, Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley, Candlebox’s Kevin Martin and Adam Kury, Vanilla Fudge’s Carmine Appice, X’s John Doe and Orianthi. More artists are still to be announced.
The guest performers will join Krieger for a night of Doors’ music, with the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer planning to highlight the band’s 1970 album, Morrison Hotel, as well as other Doors hits.
“Sixty years or so ago when The Doors were happening, I had no idea that in the next century, we would still be talking about and playing The Doors records,” Krieger says. “I feel so blessed that just about every day someone stops me and recognizes me and wants to talk about The Doors and to thank me for making the music that they love still today.”
He adds, “The people that recognize me seem to be getting nicer all the time … I like to say that it’s a good problem to have.”
Opening for Krieger at the show will be the band Tripform, whose members include Pablo Manzarek, son of the late Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek.
Tickets for A 60th Anniversary Doors Celebration are on sale now.

The members of Twisted Sister are reuniting to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The “We’re Not Gonna Take It” rockers — Dee Snider, Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda —have announced they’re hitting the road in 2026 in celebration of their milestone, although details about the tour have yet to be announced.
“If you’re lucky enough to be in a band that people still want to see after fifty years, how can you not answer the call?” Snider says. “In 2026, Twisted F***** Sister will hit stages around the world because WE STILL WANNA ROCK!!”
“We are proud to celebrate a milestone that once felt unthinkable: a 50-year anniversary!!” French says. “We have created a music and performance legacy that has and will continue to inspire millions of fans around the world. Twisted Forever, Forever Twisted!”
Finally, Ojeda notes, “Fifty years on, and Twisted Sister is still the soundtrack for every rebel with a reason and a reason to turn it up.”
The 2026 tour will feature former Twisted Sister drummer Joe “Seven” Franco, who last recorded and performed with the band in 1987. Russell Pzütto, who has previously performed with the band, will play bass.
This will mark the first Twisted Sister tour since 2016. For that tour the band was joined by drummer Mike Portnoy, filling the spot left vacant by the death of drummer A.J. Pero in 2015. The band last reunited in 2023 for induction into the Metal Hall of Fame, although Ojeda missed the performance after getting COVID-19.
A new trailer has just dropped for the upcoming docuseries Into The Void: Life, Death & Heavy Metal, which delves into the world of heavy metal.
According to the description, the series “explores the epic struggles and the cultural impacts made by heavy metal’s most compelling artists.” Each episode focuses on a different story in the world of heavy metal music, with the trailer featuring interview clips from Sharon Osbourne, Pantera’s Phil Anselmo, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe and more.
The trailer touches on the deaths of Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell and Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist Randy Rhoads, as well as Judas Priest’s 1985 trial, where they were accused of promoting suicide.
In a clip from the Rhoads episode, Sharon says, “Randy was a gift from God, he pulled the best out of Ozzy.” Archival footage of Ozzy has him saying, “He was the first guy that came into my life and gave me hope.”
“Metal is often reduced to clichés, but we wanted to challenge that narrow view and show its true breadth,” executive producers Jason Eisener and Evan Husney tell People. “The genre is incredibly multifaceted — both musically and stylistically — and we set out to reflect that diversity in the bands we chose to highlight.”
The eight-part docuseries premieres Sept. 22 on Hulu.

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have released the track “Frozen Love” off the upcoming reissue of their only studio album as a duo, 1973’s Buckingham Nicks.
The former couple announced the track’s release by posting on Instagram archival photos of them performing together.
“Frozen Love” actually played a role in the duo’s tease of the project. They offered the first inkling of something happening by sharing complimentary posts on social media, with each including a lyric from the tune. Stevie offered a post with the lyric “if you go forward” written in cursive, while Lindsey shared a similarly styled post with the words “I’ll meet you there,” both from the song.
Buckingham Nicks is being released Sept. 19, digitally, on CD and on vinyl, with newly remastered sound. This will mark the first-ever reissue of the album, which has been unavailable for decades.
To coincide with the reissue, the pair is selling a limited-edition T-shirt and print, both featuring the album’s iconic cover, in which they are both shirtless.
While Buckingham Nicks wasn’t a commercial success, shortly after the release Mick Fleetwood heard a track from the album, which led to him inviting Buckingham to join Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham insisted his then-girlfriend Nicks come with him, and the pair officially joined the band on New Year’s Eve 1974.

A John Lennon performance from a 1971 short film he and Yoko Ono shot at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City has just been released.
The performance of the Carl Perkins tune “Honey Don’t” is part of the never-before-seen film Clock, in which Lennon filmed a carriage clock for an hour, with him and Yoko seen in the room’s mirror.
The film features Lennon performing 20 songs. The performances are part of the bonus material in the upcoming release Power to the People (Super Deluxe Edition), produced by the couple’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, which will be released Oct. 10, on what would have been John’s 85th birthday.
The nine-CD/three-Blu-ray box set, which focuses on John and Yoko’s political activism and early life in New York, includes 123 tracks, 90 of which have either never been heard before or were previously unreleased. That includes a new version of their 1972 album Sometime in New York City, as well as a completely remixed version of the pair’s 1972 One to One concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden, which were John’s only full-length concerts after leaving The Beatles.
In addition to the super-deluxe edition, there will be two-CD, four-LP and two-LP colored vinyl editions. All formats are available for preorder now.
