Jeremy Allen White stars as Bruce Springsteen in the new film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and The Bear star says he felt an early connection to the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.

On the red carpet for the New York Film Festival premiere of the movie, White told People that in talking to Springsteen about why they were making a film about this period of his life, The Boss was “so honest” and revealed something about what he was going through at the time that White could relate to.

“He talked to me about a panic attack he’d had, and he described it to me as in this moment he felt like he was like a voyeur in his own life,” White said. “He was an observer. He felt so outside of himself, and he told me that story, and that’s a feeling I’m familiar with.”

He added, “I think I’m always trying to find some presence in my own life, and I worked very hard at it every day. And when he told me that story and made me familiar with that feeling, I knew there was a tether that I could explore there.”

In other Deliver Me From Nowhere news … A new behind-the-scenes video of the making of the film has just been released. It includes footage of White as Springsteen shooting scenes in a studio, recording the Nebraska track “Atlantic City” and more. It also shows Springsteen on set.

Asked what he hopes moviegoers will take away from the film, White shares, “I hope people come away with the same thing people come away from his music, which is hope.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere opens in theaters and IMAX on Oct. 24. Tickets are on sale now.

Vancouver man returns unreleased Beatles demo to Paul McCartney

There’s no doubt Beatles memorabilia is worth a lot of money these days, but one man in Vancouver got something no money can buy when he discovered an unreleased demo recorded in 1962 by the Fab Four.

Rob Frith discovered the reel-to-reel tape The Beatles made for Decca records in March, and the Vancouver Sun reports that after news of the discovery hit the press he received a call from McCartney’s lawyer. That led to a Sept. 18 meeting between Frith and McCartney, where Frith returned the tape to the rock star.

“We hung out with him for like, 40 minutes,” said Frith, owner of the Vancouver collectors store Neptoon Records. “He’s an absolute sweetheart of a guy. If you’re a Beatles fan and you thought he was a really cool person, he was even nicer than you could imagine, just such a down-to-earth, nice, sweet guy.”

The meeting took place in Los Angeles, where McCartney was rehearsing for his upcoming Got Back tour. McCartney wound up inviting Frith and his family to check out rehearsal, where they also had lunch.

Frith says McCartney kept telling him how “wonderful” it was he just gave him the tape, but Firth says getting to meet McCartney was worth more to him than anything he could have made off the tape.

“I told Paul, ‘You changed my life as far as music. Basically, that’s why I have a record store, because of the influence from you guys,'” he told the paper.

McCartney kicks off his Got Back tour on Monday in Palm Desert, California. On Friday, he played a warm-up show in Santa Barbara, where, according to setlist.fm, he opened the show with The Beatles track “Help!” It marked his first performance of the tune since 1990.

While the Bruce Springsteen movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere doesn’t hit theaters until Oct. 24, it is already receiving high praise from one of The Boss’ bandmates.

E Street Band guitarist Stevie Van Zandt attended the New York Film Festival premiere of the movie on Sunday and shared his thoughts on the film on X. He calls it a “stunning, meditative, masterful work of art.”

“No one is expecting this. In the modern world of AI, Green Screens, Comic Books, and Video Games, this work stands alone,” he adds. “If filmmaking still matters at the Academy, this should win everything.”

He ends the post, “Let’s hope this brings back the era when greatness WAS commercial.”

And Van Zandt’s wife, Maureen Van Zandt, agrees with her hubby’s assessment.

“This is a beautiful, profoundly moving film with a spectacular cast,” she writes on X. “Brought to tears both times we’ve seen it. Bravo to Bruce and all involved.”

Axl Rose is launching his own graphic novel series.

Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction was created by the Guns N’ Roses frontman and Nathan Yocum, co-founder of Sumerian Comics, which is publishing the series.

“Set in a neon-drenched Paradise City where humans and robots are meant to co-exist, Appetite for Destruction follows Axl Rose, a half-human, half-robot who lives on the fringes, and finds solace in the music of a back-alley lounge singer,” reads the book description. “When she vanishes under mysterious circumstances, Axl’s search for answers drags him into a deadly conspiracy, one that could decide the fate of humanity itself.”

Axl Rose: Appetite for Destruction is a raw, neon-noir fever dream, part rock anthem, part cyberpunk prophecy,” Yocum says. “Axl and I built a world where rebellion isn’t just attitude, it’s survival. It’s Axl like you’ve never seen him before, on the front lines of a battle for humanity’s future.”

Preorders are open now via SumerianComics.com.

REO Speedwagon members Kevin Cronin, Bruce Hall, Neal Doughty and Alan Gratzer reunited Saturday to join the University of Illinois band, the Marching Illini, for a performance during halftime of the school’s homecoming game.

The group joined the band on the field for three songs, “Riding the Storm out,” “Roll With the Changes” and “157 Riverside Avenue,” the latter being a song from their 1971 self-titled first album.

REO Speedwagon formed in 1966 after Neal and Alan met at the school; Cronin gave the university a shout-out from the field.

“I wanna thank the people of Illinois, the city of Champaign-Urbana and this great university for providing a springboard for our music that launched us on a mind blowing musical experience,” Cronin told the stadium crowd.

In September 2024, REO Speedwagon announced they were going to cease touring as of January 2025. The halftime show was the first reunion of Cronin and his bandmates since they stopped touring.

“Visiting Champaign, IL always brings back great memories. It’s a very special place, the birthplace of REO Speedwagon,” Cronin wrote on Instagram. “We have the greatest fans in the world. The love and support I feel from you all is the fuel that keeps me rocking.”

Yusuf/Cat Stevens has been forced to postpone the North American leg of his book tour in support of his upcoming memoir, Cat On the Road To Findout.

Stevens previously shared that the tour, Cat on the Road to Findout: An Evening Of Tales, Tunes, and Other Mysteries, was “in serious jeopardy due to significant delays in U.S. immigration processing,” and apparently his visas still haven’t come through.

“Waiting months for visa approvals, we held out as long as we could. However, at this point, the production logistics necessary for my show cannot be arranged in time,” he writes in a new post on Instagram. “I am really upset! Not least for my fans who have bought tickets and made travel plans to see me perform.”

But Stevens isn’t giving up hope that the tour could happen eventually.

“North American audiences may still get a chance to see the tour if visa approvals eventually come through,” he explains. “Those dates would be some time away because of other travel tour plans but, hopefully, fans will be able to hop on the Peace Train route at some time in the future.”

But even without the tour, fans will still be able to enjoy the book, which comes out Oct. 7.

Stevens notes, “[T]our delays should not affect the book, which you’ll still be able to enjoy… the obvious benefit of it being — books don’t need visas!”

Cat on the Road to Findout: An Evening Of Tales, Tunes, and Other Mysteries was supposed to kick off Thursday in Philadelphia and wrap with two nights, Oct. 21 and 22, in Los Angeles.

Bruce Springsteen appeared at the New York Film Festival premiere of his biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere Sunday, where he surprised the audience with a performance of “Land of Hope and Dreams.”

Springsteen shared video of the performance on Instagram, and before the performance he thanked the audience for coming out, and then gave shout outs to the film’s cast and director, Scott Cooper.

He noted that Jeremy Allen White, who plays him on the big screen, put “his whole heart and soul in the part,” adding, he did a wonderful job “playing a much better-looking version of me.” He also thanked Jeremy Strong, who plays his manager Jon Landau, for his “creativity and his inspiration,” noting, “he played a much, much better looking Jon Landau.”

He called out Stephen Graham “for being the living embodiment of my late father,” and Gabby Hoffman for playing his mom, noting, “They’re all gone now, so it’s nice to have this piece of film.”

Springsteen also shared some “last thoughts” before the song.

“These days we have daily events reminding us of the fact that we’re living through these particularly dangerous times,” Springsteen shared. “I spent my life on the road, I’ve been moving around the world as kind of a musical ambassador for America, trying to measure the distance between American reality, where we’ve often fallen short of our ideals of the American dream.”

He added, “Seeing that America, as battered as she feels right now, but for a lot of folks out there, she continues to be a land of hope and dreams, not of fear or divisiveness or government censorship or hatred…That America is worth fighting for.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere hits theaters and IMAX on Oct. 24. Tickets for IMAX screenings are on sale now.
