After months of teasing, Mötley Crüe is getting ready to release their new single, “Dogs of War,” on Friday, April 26, and front man Vince Neil seems pretty happy with it.

He tells Billboard that the band wants to continue to put out new music “so we don’t get stagnant,” revealing, “We recorded ‘(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)’ by the Beastie Boys and we recorded this song, too, and I thought it turned out pretty good.”

While Neil says there will “definitely be new music out next year ‘cause we recorded a couple of other songs too,” right now he “can’t say” whether that will translate to a new Mötley Crüe album.

“But we want to keep putting out new music — not, maybe, an album but a few songs here, a few songs there, and that’s good,” he says.

“Dogs of War” will mark the first new Mötley music in five years; they previously recorded four fresh tracks for the soundtrack to their 2019 biopic, The Dirt, including the Machine Gun Kelly collaboration “The Dirt (Est. 1981).” It also marks the first release since guitarist John 5 joined the band following the retirement of Mick Mars.

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour is set to release the new album, Luck and Strange, on September 6, his first album of new material in nine years.

Recorded over five months in Brighton and London, the album features songs co-written by Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, who he’s been collaborating with for the past 30 years.

“It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant,” Gilmour says of the songs. “We spent a load of time during and after lockdown talking about and thinking about those kind of things.”

The album consists of eight new songs and one cover, with the title track featuring a contribution from late Pink Floyd keyboard Richard Wright, taken from a jam session at Gilmour’s barn back in 2007. The first single from the record, “The Piper’s Call,” will be released Thursday, April 25, with the video dropping Friday, April 26.

Luck and Strange will be released in a variety of formats, including LP, CD, Blu-ray and digital. All formats are available for preorder now.

After many years of eligibility, Foreigner is finally getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, and original frontman Lou Gramm is certainly grateful for the honor.

“It gives the ultimate credibility to all the creativity and work that myself and Mick (Jones) and the whole Foreigner band has been doing for decades,” Gramm tells Rolling Stone, noting when he heard the news from Foreigner’s manager, “I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it. It’s been such a long time coming.”

Gramm says he wishes he knew why it took so long for the band to be recognized, noting, “I think I have an idea, but it’s not even worth talking about. I’m just so happy we’re part of it now.”

Foreigner members being inducted into the Hall include Gramm, Jones, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, Rick Wills, Ed Gagliardi, who passed away in 2014, and Ian McDonald, who passed in 2022.

Gramm says it would be his “dream” for all the surviving members to perform together at the induction. While Jones hasn’t been performing due to his Parkinson’s disease, Foreigner’s manager says he does plan to perform that night.

As for getting up onstage and accepting the honor, Gramm says it’s “gonna make me feel that all the years of hard work and creative songwriting and recording and touring were worth it.” He adds, “To be included in all the great rock & roll performers from years past up to the present is where I want to be. It’s where Foreigner should be.”

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction is happening October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. The ceremony will stream live on Disney+, followed by a special airing on ABC at a later date.

Jon Bon Jovi reflects on life as a rock and roll star: “It was pretty good”

Jon Bon Jovi is going down memory lane as he looks back at his life as a rock and roll legend fronting one of the most successful bands of all time, Bon Jovi, with a career that spanned four decades, in a new Hulu docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Ahead of its debut, Jon sat down with Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan for an ABC special, Michael Strahan x Jon Bon Jovi: Halfway There, to discuss his life and legacy.

GMA aired a sneak peek of the interview on Wednesday, April 23, in which the singer opened up about his career’s effect on his relationship.

Jon has been married to his high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley for over 30 years. When Strahan mentioned that his success must have been “tough on a relationship,” Jon replied, “That’s nonsense.”

“I got away with murder. I say it again on camera,” he added. “I’m a rock and roll star. I’m not a saint. You know, I’m not saying that, that there weren’t a hundred girls in my life. I’m Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good.”

Despite all the attention he received from being in the spotlight, Jon said they weren’t worth being entertained.

“If you think I was ever gonna jeopardize anything for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do,” he said. “What kind of excess does a man need that’s gonna fuel that fire. It is just not worth it. Not worth it.”

For a full interview, tune in to Michael Strahan x Jon Bon Jovi: Halfway There, which airs Sunday, April 28, at 10 pm E.T. on ABC.

On This Day, April 24, 1989: Tom Petty released his first solo record, ‘Full Moon Fever’

On This Day, April 24, 1989: Tom Petty released his first solo record, ‘Full Moon Fever’

On This Day, April 24, 1989…

Tom Petty released his first solo album, Full Moon Fever.

Although it wasn’t billed as a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers record, most of the Heartbreakers were on the album, as were Petty’s Traveling Wilburys bandmates Jeff LynneGeorge Harrison and Roy Orbison, who passed away before the album’s release.

Petty’s label MCA Records and leader Irving Azoff originally refused to release the Full Moon Fever, believing there were no hit songs on it, but when management at the label changed, that decision changed as well.

The album wound up landing a trio of hit songs, including “Free Fallin’,” which peaked at #7, “I Won’t Back Down” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream.”

Full Moon Fever went on to be a huge success for Petty, peaking at #3 on the Billboard album chart. It was also certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA, and in 2019, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Tom Petty’s music will be celebrated with a new tribute album, Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty, dropping June 21.
