It sounds like Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour would be open to an ABBA-like avatar show.

Louder Sound reports that at the premiere of his concert film Live At Circus Maximus, Rome at London’s BFI IMAX, Gilmour was asked how he’d feel about playing some modern venues, like the Sphere in Las Vegas. And he had an interesting take on it.

“Well, you know, I’m hoping, one of these days, to go there and sit and watch myself doing it, which is something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. “My avatar, you know? So I don’t actually have to get up and do it.”

Live at Circus MaximusRome hits theaters and IMAX on Sept. 17. It is a recording of a concert on Gilmour’s 2024 Luck and Strange tour at the famed Italian venue set against the backdrop of the ancient ruins of Rome.

Tickets are on sale now at DavidGilmour.film.

And in Pink Floyd news, fans think the band has been teasing an upcoming announcement with some cryptic posts on social media and digital services.

The band has blacked out the cover photos on their social media pages, and on digital services the covers of all their albums have been replaced with black squares with one line descriptions of the cover art. For example, on Wish You Were Here it reads “two men in suits shaking hands one man is on fire.” The Wall reads, “A wall of white bricks with red graffiti.”

Although there’s no word on what they could be teasing, Friday marks the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, so it could be related to that milestone.

On This Day, Sept. 11, 1973: Bruce Springsteen releases his sophomore album ‘The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle’

Just nine months after releasing his debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J., Bruce Springsteen released the follow-up, The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle.

Although the album received critical praise, it wasn’t a commercial success upon its initial release. After the release of Springsteen’s next album, the commercial hit Born to Run, songs on The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle began getting radio play, and the album has since gone on to be certified double platinum by the RIAA.

The album features the Springsteen classic “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” as well as fan favorites like “4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy),” “Kitty’s Back” and “Incident on 57 Street.”

Pearl Jam fostering kittens found near their Seattle headquarters

Pearl Jam may have a song called “Rats,” but now some cats are being housed at the band’s headquarters.

The Seattle rockers revealed on Instagram that a tuxedo cat was found earlier this summer sunbathing in the parking lot of the band’s headquarters, and the group’s team helped get her and her kittens to safety.

The band shared video of the litter, writing, “Meet the Purrl Jam Family.” The mom has been named Mamasan, after the Mamasan trilogy, the first three songs (“Alive,” “Once” and “Footsteps”) that Eddie Vedder wrote lyrics to for the band. The kittens are named after three of the band’s songs: Dark Matter, the title track of their 2024 album; Gremmie, after the Lost Dogs B-side “Gremmie Out of Control”; and Bugs, after the track of the same name from 1994’s Vitalogy.

“With the help of @alleycatproject, a local non-profit organization dedicated to humanely reducing Seattle’s feral cat population, Mamasan and her 3-boy litter were safely captured and brought inside,” reads the post, noting that the cats were spayed and neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

While Mamasan, who they say is a “true feral,” was ear-tipped and returned to the outdoors, her “tuxedo trilogy” will remain at Pearl Jam headquarters until they are ready to be adopted.

The band notes that the kittens are staying at their headquarters because their aren’t enough foster homes to help all the animals in need, asking fans to donate to Alley Cat Project or purchase supplies on their wish list to help the organization.

Good news for Elton John fans — who also love UK soccer

Good news for Elton John fans — who also love UK soccer

Some people say music is life. According to Ted Lasso, football is life. But if you’re an Elton John fan, you can now combine those things.

As Elton fans may know, the Rocket Man became the chairman of Watford Hornets, his favorite football club — what Americans would call a soccer team — in 1976. He served until 1990, then returned as chairman from 1997 to 2002. He’s still the club’s honorary life president.

To celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of Elton joining the club’s management, which literally turned their fortunes around, the players will be wearing Elton-inspired uniforms during their championship game on Saturday — and you can buy your own version.

According to the team, Elton was “heavily involved” in the design of the uniforms, which were inspired by the cover of his Diamonds greatest hits album. The uniform jerseys are blue with a star design and feature Elton’s “E” logo, the Watford crest and the hornet logo the club used in 1976. On the back of the shirts is a line from Elton’s hit “Your Song”: “How wonderful life is while you’re in the world.”

You can preorder the collection, which also includes shorts and socks, now. The uniforms will become available online on Friday.
