Lynyrd Skynyrd announces plans for 2020 farewell tour dates, Simple Man Jam gathering

Credit: Doltyn SneddenLynyrd Skynyrd launched its Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour in 2018, but the Southern rock legends have now unveiled plans to keep the trek going well into 2020.

The band’s newly announced performances span from a March 7 concert Savannah, Georgia, through a four-day, multi-artist event called the Lynyrd Skynyrd & Frynds Simple Man Jam: A Family Reunion, taking place August 20 to August 24 in Orlando, Florida.

Simple Man Jam will feature Skynyrd playing two unique concerts and participating in a Q&A session, while some band members also will take part in various activities. A variety of other as-yet-unannounced artists will perform at the gathering, which will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel. In addition, attendees will be able to check out a Lynyrd Skynyrd museum packed with memorabilia.

As for the other newly announced shows, country stars Travis Tritt and Eli Young Band will open select dates. Tickets for most of the new concerts will go on sale to the general public this Friday, December 6, at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com. Citi card members will be able to buy pre-sale tickets starting Wednesday, December 4, at 10 a.m. local time via the company’s Private Pass program. Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant says of the group’s farewell trek, “We’ve said we want to play every venue and market we’ve ever visited around the world one last time and even some places we haven’t, so we get to see all of Skynyrd Nation…We are getting close!”
