The event will be hosted by local soul singer, songwriter and community activist Brian Owens, who’s previously collaborated with McDonald. They both hails from the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri.

The show will raise money for L.I.F.E. Arts Inc., a nonprofit launched by Owens in 2014 that offers leadership-development programs for urban youth and young adults from Ferguson and the St. Louis area who are interested in a career in the arts.

McDonald will be performing at the concert, which will also feature tribute performances by Owens and his group The Deacons of Soul, as well as by other special guests. Students from the L.I.F.E. Arts program will perform as well.

“It’s a special honor for me to participate in the A Night for Life benefit,” says McDonald. “Knowing how hard all those involved have worked every day to be a part of what makes the Ferguson community great makes it a true privilege for me — not to mention the chance to perform with some of the phenomenal young musical artists it supports.”

Owens says of Michael, “His music is beloved by fans spanning the globe and has been a soundtrack of love and hope for so many, including myself.”
