Credit: Joe BeckleyAmerica singer/guitarist Gerry Beckley has released a second single from his forthcoming solo album, Five Mile Road, due out September 20. The tune, “Home Again,” is a roots-rock-flavored track that begins with a sparse, acoustic arrangement and becomes fuller and more upbeat as it moves along.

“Home Again” is available now as a digital single, and fans pre-ordering Five Mile Road will receive a free digital download of that song and of the previously released track, “Life Lessons.”

Among the guest artists featured on the record are actor/musician Bill Mumy, ex-Chicago singer/bassist Jason Scheff and founding Poco singer/pedal-steel player Rusty Young. Gerry wrote all of Five Mile Road‘s 12 tracks except “Life Lessons,” which he co-wrote with Mumy.

“Sometimes I find myself looking back more than I look forward,” Beckley says with regard to the new album, “but I’m 66 years old and at a beautiful place in my life with my wife, kids and career. The challenge is how to convey your head and heart, to make music that isn’t preachy or clichéd reminiscence.”

Special Five Mile Road bundles are available now for pre-order, including one that packages the album with an autographed, limited-edition photobook full of images taken by Beckley, paired with a description he’s written for each track on the record.

Meanwhile, Beckley continues to tour with America, whose next show is scheduled for this Friday, August 2, in Norfolk, Virginia. Check out all of the band’s dates at
