Carry the news! Mott the Hoople '74 returning to the US for a fall tour

Tia Haygood; Ross Halfin; Trudi KnightIn April, Ian Hunter mounted an eight-date U.S. tour with a revised version of his old group, Mott the Hoople. It was the band’s first stateside trek since 1974. Now Hunter and the group, dubbed Mott the Hoople ’74, have lined up an 11-date fall outing that will stop in U.S. cities that the band didn’t play in the spring.

The tour kicks off with an October 21 concert in the New York City suburb of Port Chester, New York, and is mapped out through a November 6 show in Seattle. The trek also will visit Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Nashville; Dallas and Austin, Texas; Scottsdale, Arizona; Los Angeles and Oakland, California; and Portland, Oregon.

Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, August 2, at 10 a.m. local time. Pre-sale offer begin Tuesday, July 30. Visit MotttheHoople-74.com for more information.

Mott the Hoople ’74 features guitarist Ariel Bender and keyboardist Morgan Fisher, who were part of Mott the Hoople’s 1974 lineup, as well as several members of Hunter’s longtime solo outfit, The Rant Band. Among the latter is one-time Wings drummer Steve Holley.

The band also played a run of U.K. shows in late April. Hunter also celebrated his 80th birthday by playing a four-show residency at the City Winery in New York City from May 31 to June 3.
