UMeLast month, a previously unreleased, stripped-down version of Freddie Mercury‘s 1986 solo song “Time,” re-titled “Time Waits for No One,” was released as a digital single.  Now the track will be available on a seven-inch picture disc and a CD single that will hit stores on Friday, July 26.

Mercury recorded “Time” for a concept album based on the hit West End musical of the same name.  It was produced and co-created by Freddie’s friend Dave Clark, the drummer and band leader of the popular 1960s U.K. group The Dave Clark Five. The original song, which included 96 audio tracks, was a top 40 hit for Mercury in the U.K.

Recalling how great the late Queen frontman sounded while recording “Time,” Clark recently decided to create a new version using a single Mercury vocal track from the session and bringing in keyboardist Mike Moran, who played on the original song, to record a new piano part to accompany Freddie’s voice.

To celebrate the release of the digital version of “Time Waits for No One,” a new video premiered that was created using footage of Mercury shot in 1986 for a promo clip of “Time.”

The “Time Waits for No One” vinyl picture disc and CD single, which both can be pre-ordered now, will also include audio of an archival interview with Mercury and Clark.
