Credit: Jay GilbertFounding KISS lead guitarist Ace Frehley has revealed some new details about his upcoming solo album, Origins Vol. 2, a follow-up to 2018’s Spaceman and a sequel to his 2016 covers project Origins, Vol. 1.

Speaking this past week with the News 12 Long Island TV station, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer reported that “Origins, Vol. 2 is done. It’s just being mixed. So that’ll be out in October.”

Frehley unveiled more tidbits about the album in a recent interview with, telling the news site that Origins, Vol. 2 will include renditions of The Rolling Stones‘ “Jumping Jack Flash” and Humble Pie‘s “30 Days in the Hole” featuring respective contributions from Lita Ford and Cheap Trick‘s Robin Zander.

Ace said that Ford was amazing, noting, “She came to my home and I coached her for two days with vocals and she just [expletive] killed it.”

As for his cover of “30 Days in the Hole,” Frehley explained, “I just couldn’t cut it, vocally, because [Humble Pie frontman Steve] Marriott‘s just too good of a g**damn singer…But I remembered that I had bumped into Robin Zander years ago at a meet-and-greet and he had mentioned to me that he’d like to sing on one of my upcoming records, so I…gave him a call. And he killed it as well. He sounds like a young Marriott.”

Meanwhile, during the News 12 interview, Frehley was asked to share his feelings about KISS doing its farewell tour without him. “I know the fans want me to rejoin the band,” Ace said. “If they make a good enough offer, I’d seriously consider it.”
