Along with Butler, Deadland Ritual features former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum, Apocalyptica vocalist Franky Perez, and Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens.

Sorum, Perez and Stevens formed the band initially, and then Butler joined after digging what he heard from the trio.

“I had to get used to the idea of starting from scratch again, which is good,” Bulter says in a statement. “But I really liked the music I was hearing. It’s not your typical hard rock or metal stuff.”

Deadland Ritual will make their live debut in June at the U.K.’s Download Festival, followed by a set at Hellfest in France. The band’s shows will mix original material with songs from each member’s career.
