The first official trailer for the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody premiered on May 18, and the preview apparently has given a boost to the sales and streams of some of the legendary British band’s classic songs.
Billboard reports that on its Hot Rock Songs chart, which is based on streaming, sales and airplay data, the film’s title track jumped from #10 the previous week to #8, after notching 19 and 17% increases in sales and streaming, respectively.
In addition, “Another One Bites the Dust” and “We Will Rock You” have both re-entered the Hot Rock Songs tally, respectively, at #13 and #17.
“Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites the Dust” and “We Will Rock You” all are heard in the movie’s trailer.
Meanwhile, five Queen tunes appear in the top 20 of Billboard‘s Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, with “Bohemian Rhapsody” at #3, “We Will Rock You” at #9, “Another One Bites the Dust” at #12, “We Are the Champions” at #15 and the group’s classic duet with David Bowie, “Under Pressure,” at #16.
Elsewhere on the charts, Queen’s Greatest Hits compilation holds steady at #7 on the Top Rock Albums tally, while moving up from #4 to #2 on the Hard Rock Albums list.
Bohemian Rhapsody, the film, featuring Mr. Robot star Rami Malek as late Queen singer Freddie Mercury, will premiere in the U.S. on November 2.
